"This has been a very exciting and daunting project for our Langdon members who have been practicing all year to deliver a speech in public. I am very proud of the incredible courage and resilience of our members. With incredible support from volunteer mentors, I've seen growth in self-esteem and confidence. Thank you to the Speaking Out Forum who ran this very worthwhile programme."
"The culmination of the course at the Speakers House was an experience that I believe those that attended will remember for a very long time. The most significant impact of the programme is that our members have learnt and developed skills for life. I felt humbled at how brave, moving and skilled our members were at creating their speeches and then delivering to a large audience albeit in the most beautiful of surroundings.
Speaking Out Forum is delighted to announce our formal partnership with the Friendship Circle.
"The Friendship Circle has worked in partnership with the Speaking Out Forum for three years and our members have participated in two exceptional courses and two workshops culminating in a public speaking event at Manchester Library. We have really enjoyed this working relationship between the two organisations. The Speaking Out Forum has helped our members to gain confidence and it has given them a new found voice, which has been inspiring to witness. Our members have benefitted from an increased self-esteem, which has made them feel more empowered and they now feel able to speak up for themselves in a way which they would not have been able to do before. The course has enabled us to offer a unique learning experience that has improved the wellbeing of our members."
- Esty Bruck, Programme Director
"We believe the work that has been done has made a real difference to the lives of those taking part. The project has increased people's confidence and given them a voice. I know it's been a real journey for those taking part and in many ways it's the start of another journey. The regular input from the Speaking Out Forum team, your energy, encouragement and belief in the speakers has really helped them to achieve what can only be described as an incredibly ambitious goal (Speaking at the Speakers House).
The feedback from our participants and their family members is that it was an extremely enjoyable event.
I do hope Harrow Mencap has the opportunity of working with Speaking Out Forum again soon"
"Speaking Out Forum and Harrow School are proud of their three-year partnership during which young adults from Langdon London and Mencap Harrow have been supported by Harrovians.
In partnership with Shaftesbury Enterprise, Speaking Out Forum held a special event called Every Voice. Harrow School hosted a reception and tea ahead of the performances, with the event being attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrow and Speaking Out Forum’s patron Sir Anthony Seldon.
The young adults, supported by their mentors, delivered a variety of confident and enjoyable speeches. There were musical performances by Harrovians, the ensemble More Than Just A Choir, and Toby Marlow, star of of the musical SIX, who closed the evening with the song Every Voice.
The initiative has been an overwhelming success and has helped to build the skills and confidence of young adults in our local community, allowing them to enjoy a greater number of opportunities both in their working and personal lives."
