There are 1.5 million adults with a learning disability in the UK. We offer courses and workshops in public speaking and communication for young people aged 18-35 years with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Our Foundation and Advanced courses are especially designed to develop speaking skills, build confidence, support work-ready capabilities and promote well-being.
We aim to empower young people to be able to speak up for themselves in all aspects of their daily lives: in their home, work, social and community environments.
Each course is made up of 10 weekly sessions delivered by one of our facilitators.
Our course facilitators work closely with our partner organisations to deliver our courses to their young people. The partner organisation provides mentors who we train to work alongside us and support the young people as the courses progress.
Workshops
We also offer a half day workshop for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, which gives participants an introduction to developing public speaking and communication skills.
The workshop can be delivered in a range of settings, such as colleges, community groups and in collaboration with providers of outreach programmes.
