"This young man can now make eye contact with people which is a big achievement for him"
"It has been a great honour to mentor this person"
"I can't believe how this individual has progressed over the last few months"
"Enjoyed being with the Langdon members and watching them gain in confidence in their ability to say what they wanted to say"
"Working with the members has been very joyful. We had been learning about speaking out for themselves and letting people know they deserve to have the opportunity"
"I enjoyed learning how to not only teach others how to be better public speakers, but how to help them become more confident and to be proud of themselves, rather than shy away. I found the breathing exercises and the knowledge of how to project your voice at the start of each session very useful"
Our volunteer mentors play a vital role in the Speaking Out Forum project. They assist the facilitator during the public speaking training sessions by working 1-1 or 1-2 with our participants during the sessions.
Our mentors build a strong rapport with our participants during the time they spend together within our group sessions. They also stand alongside our young people at any events organised by our partner organisations or by Speaking Out Forum.
Our mentors receive a well-deserved certificate of appreciation at the end of the training sessions for their time and commitment.
